In April 1995, the National Association of State Energy Officials and Energy Rated Homes of America founded the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) to develop a national market for home energy rating systems and energy efficient mortgages. RESNET created the Home Energy Rating System, or HERS®, as a national standard for rating the energy efficiency of residential buildings in the U.S.
The Sustainably Built Team provides the HERS® rating services required to obtain ENERGY STAR® Ratings, LEED® for Homes certifications, Energy Efficient Mortgages, as well as ratings required for building permits in the City of Boulder, Boulder County, and any jurisdiction that has adopted the IECC 2006 energy codes or newer. Contact us to get your HERS® rating scheduled today!
The Building Performance Institute (BPI) created a national standard for energy audits that focusses on existing homes. Mark Bloomfield, Principal of Sustainably Built has achieved certification through this program to perform Comprehensive Home Energy Audits including blower door testing, duct leakage testing, infrared scans, and combustion gas testing.
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a non-profit organization composed of leaders from across the building industry working to advance buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live and work. Since it’s founding in 1993, the USGBC has been focused on fulfilling the building and construction industry’s vision for its own transformation to high-performance green building. Driving its mission to transform the built environment is the Council’s LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™. Mark Bloomfield is a seasoned LEED® Accredited Professional.
LEED for Homes is a rating system that promotes the design and construction of high-performance green homes. In order to achieve a LEED for Homes certification, a rater must be hired to verify and test the project. Sustainably Built is a LEED for Homes Green Rater under Energy Logic and can help you through the entire process of achieving certification for your home. Sustainably Built has completed numerous LEED for Homes projects from single family homes to large multifamily complexes. A LEED-certified home is designed and constructed in accordance with the rigorous guidelines of the LEED for Homes green building certification program. LEED for Homes is a consensus-developed, third party-verified, voluntary rating system which promotes the design and construction of high-performance green homes.
Adam Stenftenagel, Principal of Sustainably Built, is a founding member of the Colorado Green Building Guild (formerly the Boulder Green Building Guild), a non-profit dedicated to making green building common practice. The Guild is an association of building professionals who promote healthier, resource-efficient homes and work places. Since 2004, the Guild has been promoting green building through workshops, events, and an informative website. Sustainably Built is a proud, long-standing member of the CGBG.
ENERGY STAR® qualified products and practices help save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. EPA and U.S. DOE. The ENERGY STAR® label also designates superior energy performance in homes and buildings. Sustainably Built is a proud partner of ENERGY STAR® and provides ENERGY STAR® ratings for homes.
A DOE Zero Energy Ready Home is a high performance home, which is so energy efficient that a renewable energy system can offset all or most of its annual energy consumption. The DOE Zero Energy Ready Home—formerly DOE Challenge Home—represents a whole new level of home performance, with rigorous requirements that ensure outstanding levels of energy savings, comfort, health, and durability.
